A vision to increase the number of Playgroup parents attending both Playgroups, with increased numbers of volunteers to help run these. We would like to incorporate promotion of the FoodSupport programme there, by introducing healthy morning teas made by supplies from FoodSupport, together with recipes to help facilitate this.
Testimonial: At the moment, we have parents from all walks of life, ranging from teachers to parents recovering from substance abuse. They support one another and the ‘dream’ is for a larger network of parents being drawn from a larger pool of life, to resource each other at Riverside Playgroup.
The Lifeskills programmes, to be held once a week, should be up and running by late 2010. We hope to have mentors trained up by then for each of the participant families.
By 2015, we hope to raise sufficient funds to build a separate building for these programmes, and to house an Infant and Mother Health programme run by trained volunteer doctors and nurses from the Dubbo Christian community..
The vision is to ultimately help break the cycle of “children having children”.
Our Mission is to develop and equip individuals to lead successful and fulfilling lives. Clients are offered the opportunity to transform their attitudes towards themselves, each other and society, leading ultimately to secure, honorable and nurturing community life. There are a number of programs coming on line in the near future, the first one being a home budgetting mentoring course. This will be available to clients referred by other agencies, and is being drafted in cooperation with Lifeline and other community organisations.
Skills Programs such as Childhealth and discipline, Personal Budgeting, and Health and Nutrition, will be delivered by certified trainers, with the assistance of various funding bodies in the local and national community in the near future.
